In a 2005 study published in Stress and Health, people who watched 10 minutes of animal videos experienced lower heart rates and blood pressures. Watching these videos prior to a stressful event may help create a buffer against the physical effects of stress. Sound is not necessary to reap the calming benefits of the videos.
